The 2016 Pilot arrives at Honda dealerships this summer.

The pricing strategy on the Pilot includes a variety of price increases, depending on the trim level and options.

For example, the midlevel 2016 Pilot EX with all-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission starts at $35,110, including shipping, for a price increase of $510 compared to the 2015 model.

Consumers will pay $1,800 extra for 2016 Pilots with all-wheel drive.

The 2016 Pilot LX and EX are equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission, while the Pilot Touring and Elite get a nine-speed automatic transmission. All versions are equipped with a 280-horsepower direct-injected 3.5-liter V6 engine.

Key Pilot competitors include the Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Explorer and Nissan Pathfinder.

Edmunds says: Car shoppers should be aware of the stair-step price increases on the various 2016 Pilot models before they head out to the showroom.
