WOODCLIFF LAKE, New Jersey — The 2016 BMW 435i ZHP Coupe Edition, a high-performance version of the 2016 BMW 4 Series coupe aimed at enthusiasts, will arrive at U.S. BMW dealerships in July.

Production will be limited to 100 cars. Pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date, said BMW of North America in a statement.

The 435i ZHP Coupe Edition is a tribute to the 2003-'06 E46 BMW 3 Series that was widely regarded as the ultimate in luxury-sport sedans. ZHP was shorthand for the original internal option package code.

The 2016 version features power, handling and cosmetic upgrades.

The special appearance package includes a carbon-fiber front splitter and spoiler, M Performance black kidney grilles and either Alpine White or Black Sapphire Metallic exterior paint.

The 435i ZHP Coupe Edition gets a Track Handling package that is new for 2016. It adds 18-inch Orbit Grey V-Spoke wheels, M Sport brakes, an adaptive M suspension with variable dampers and a variable sport steering system. In addition, the special model gets a BMW M Performance limited-slip differential for better grip.

The new M Performance Power Kit modifies the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine. The 435i ZHP Coupe edition gets a 35 horsepower boost to 335 hp. Torque increases to 332 pound-feet when the car is equipped with the eight-speed automatic transmission and 317 lb-ft with the six-speed manual transmission, for gains of 32 lb-ft and 17 lb-ft, respectively.

The upgrade results in "improved acceleration that drivers can feel immediately when compared to a standard 435i," BMW said.

The engine kit includes M Performance rocker panel decals.

The BMW M Performance exhaust system rounds out the package.

Key competitors to the BMW 435i ZHP Coupe include high-end versions of the Audi A5 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe.
